In 1982, Dennis Large, President of Dalar Contracting Ltd., set out to tackle the construction industry. He brought with him an insatiable drive, enthusiasm, and a vision, which has grown over two decades into what is now one of the top construction companies in the GTA. With an impressive history and extensive client base, Dalar continues to thrive in an ever-booming market. In keeping up with their tremendous growth, Dalar’s office remains at the same location, but the small, white bungalow that use to sit at 1053 Brock Road has been replaced with a modern, spacious, state-of-the-art office building with an elegant interior to showcase their talents and staff. Although the office is in a beautifully designed, brand new building, and the staff has grown exponentially, Dennis still brings that same drive, enthusiasm and vision with him to work every day, and he is passionate and proud as he speaks of the endless buildings and projects that Dalar has built over the years.

Initially, Dalar focused on a small commercial projects that enabled them to put together a staff of competent, experienced professionals in construction and project management. The company's dedication to achieving tight budget objectives on key projects with critical time frames, earned a considerable reputation with clients that led to further expansion. Throughout the nineties, the fundamental strength of the eastern sector of the GTA for commercial and institutional projects had a far-reaching impact on Dalar's long-term growth. “In 1990, we went from a small Canada Trustco Mortgage Company project on Yonge St., to the construction of almost ninety drive-in ATM facilities for the institution,” Dennis states with some satisfaction. This work, in conjunction with key projects in a number of shopping malls with high-end tenants, enabled Dalar Contracting Ltd., to gain an invaluable reputation in project management. “The solid reputation we bring to the property owner and our initial approach to his needs and concerns establishes the respect we strive to maintain throughout all phases of the project.”

In working with consultants, architects and engineers, Dalar Contracting is committed to the use of computers and design software, online-communication methodology and video technology. This technology has been fundamental to the smooth running of projects to meet time schedules, plan sub-trades work progress and track materials and costs. This investment in leading-edge technology has enabled Dalar to dramatically improve construction productivity on their sites. Building site progress, sub-trades instruction, engineering solutions and detailed problem solving are all matters that are communicated directly to those who need to know in order to effect decisions.
